Ruth: A Loyal and Kind Friend

Ruth 1-4

Ruth lived in the land of Moab. After her husband died, she had to make a big choice. Naomi, her mother-in-law, was going back to Bethlehem. Ruth loved Naomi very much, so she said, “where you go, I will go.” Ruth chose to stay close to Naomi and help her, even though Bethlehem was far from home. In Bethlehem, Ruth worked hard in the fields to gather grain so they would have food. The field belonged to a kind man named Boaz. He saw how caring and hardworking Ruth was and made sure she and Naomi had plenty to eat and a safe place to stay. God blessed Ruth for her loving heart. She married Boaz, and they had a baby boy named Obed. Ruth’s family became very special, many many many years later, her great-grandson was King David, and from David’s family, Jesus was born!
