Delilah: The Woman Who Made a Wrong Choice

Judges 16

Delilah lived near God’s people and she knew a strong man named Samson. Samson was very strong because God had blessed him with great strength. Some leaders in Delilah’s land did not like Samson because he was very strong and they wanted him not to be strong anymore. They asked Delilah to help them by finding out why Samson was so strong. Delilah made a sad choice. She agreed to help them, and she kept asking Samson again and again to tell her his secret. At last, Samson trusted her and told her that God had made him strong and his hair was never to be cut. Delilah chose to tell the leaders Samson’s secret. They came and cut Samson’s hair, and Samson lost his strength. He felt very sad because someone he trusted had not been kind to him. Even though Samson was hurt, God never left him. Later, God helped Samson be strong again so he could protect God’s people. Delilah learned that her choice had hurt someone who cared for her. It is important to be truthful and protect those who trust us.
