The Samaritan Woman at the Well
John 4:1-30; 39-42
One hot afternoon, a woman from Samaria walked to a well to get some water. When she reached the well, she saw a man sitting there. When the man spoke to her kindly, she was surprised, because Jews and Samaritans did not usually talk to each other. The man was Jesus. As they talked, Jesus told her things about her life-things only someone very special could know. The woman felt known and loved. Jesus told her that God cared for her and that He gives “living water,” which means His love that never runs out. The woman was so happy that she left her water jar and ran back to her town to tell everyone about Jesus. The people listened to her and many of them believed in Jesus because of what she said. Her words helped a whole town learn about God’s love.
