Mary lived in Bethany with her sister Martha and their brother Lazarus. She loved Jesus very much and enjoyed being close to Him. Whenever Jesus visited their home, Mary sat quietly near Him, listening to His words and learning from Him. Being with Jesus made her heart feel peaceful and happy. One day, Jesus came to their house for a special meal. Mary wanted to show Him how much she loved and honoured Him. She took a jar of very precious perfume, knelt beside Jesus, and gently poured it on His feet. Some people complained, but Jesus said Mary had done a beautiful thing because it came from her heart.
