Mary Magdalene
Luke 8:1-3; John 20:1-18
Mary Magdalene loved Jesus very much because He had helped her and made her heart feel new again. She followed Him, listened to His teaching and wanted to be close to Him. After Jesus died on the cross for us, Mary felt very sad. Early in the morning, while it was still dark, she went to His tomb to visit Him. But when she arrived, the stone had been rolled away and the tomb was empty. Mary did not understand that Jesus had risen, so she cried. As she was crying, she saw a man standing nearby. She did not know it was Jesus at first. But then He said her name gently, “Mary.” Right away, she knew His voice and knew that it was Jesus. Her sadness turned into joy. Jesus told her to go and tell His friends the good news. Mary ran to the disciples and said, “I have seen the Lord!” She was the very first person to see Jesus alive again.
