Queen Vashti

Esther 1

Queen Vashti lived in a great palace with King Xerxes. One day, the king held a big feast for many important people. There was a lot of celebrating, and everyone was enjoying the party. During the feast, the king asked Queen Vashti to come and stand before all the guests so they could see her beauty. But Queen Vashti chose not to come. She said no and did not go when the king sent for her. This made the king very angry. His helpers told him that because she did not obey the command of the King, she could no longer be queen. So Queen Vashti lost her place in the palace. Later, the king began to look for a new queen, and that is how Esther’s story began.
