Hagar: The Egyptian Servant

Genesis 16; 21

Hagar lived in Abraham and Sarah’s home and helped take care of many things. One day, Hagar became pregnant with a baby. This made Sarah feel upset because she wanted a baby too. This made things difficult in the home. Hagar felt hurt and lonely. She did not know what to do so she ran away into the hot desert. Hagar sat down near a spring of water and cried. She felt all alone. An angel of the Lord came to her and spoke to her. He told her that God cared for her and the baby in her tummy. The angel told her to go back home to Abraham and Sarah because God would take care of her. Hagar felt comforted. She knew God had seen her heart, her tears, and her needs. She called God, “the God who sees me.”
